Matt and I celebrated three years of marriage, and nearly fourteen years together (apart from a few black-out periods) with a sweet dinner out, followed by an even sweeter cup of Yotality fro-yo. A new neighborhood fave.
I am so thankful I married this man. I love him more as each day passes, and as we delve further into this crazy journey as a family of three. Even through the chaos, the grief, the struggle, and the joy; at the end of the day there is no one else I'd rather be sharing it with. Matt, life could not be any sweeter with you by my side. I love you.
This was by far my best decision yet.

It's Daddy's Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Daddy! I wrapped this myself (well, mommy cut the paper, taped the paper, and made it look pretty. But I tried to eat the tape AND the paper, does that count?). I really hope you like it. Love, Colden

Colden does Colorado
As we made our way through Wyoming, our two-foot captain decided he'd like to take the wheel for a little while.
Before I booked our trip, we had plans to visit friends, see the sights, make a day of going to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, etc; while we were home in Colorado. I even lined up a family photo shoot with our wedding photographer. Who knew a fire burning just three miles from my parents home would change all of that. The very day we arrived in Colorado Springs, the mandatory and voluntary evacuations were issued. My parents house was just three miles from the voluntary border. (Look towards the bottom left of the map, they live in Briargate).
With only four days in the Springs, our plans changed quickly. Air quality shut down all hope of doing anything extended outside, especially with an infant. Not like we wanted to do anything but stay glued to the TV, Internet, and all other media sources, anyway. This Facebook page popped up immediately, providing the most up to date coverage of the fire. It's still a great source of information on how to donate and volunteer. In the end over 500 homes were lost, going down as the worst structural fire in Colorado history. A handful of those being the homes of friends' parents I knew personally.
With all of that going on, most afternoons were spent just like this.
Or if you're a ten-year-old and you have cabin fever, afternoons are spent like this. Have you ever dropped a pack of mentos into a liter of diet coke? I highly recommend it.
I think Andrew was trying to recreate Old Faithful...
The last day of our trip my dad came down with an awful stomach bug that also had Colden feeling rotten. We ended up in the ER that morning (a few pics here), and made the call after he was released to go for it: and make a mad dash to the airport. We just needed to get home. Unshowered, tired, and frazzled we made our flights. Colden happily Christened the Minneapolis airport once again; but this time all we could do was laugh. Seriously, we cracked up in the middle of a walkway with an airport (literally) full of strangers watching and gawking as we struggled to clean our child covered in vomit. It was in that moment I silently vowed to not take Colden on another plane for at least a year...if not five. Spontaneity, travel, and puke just don't mix.
Thankfully, after he emptied his stomach Colden was the happiest of creatures; talking and flirting with anyone who would look at him. Plus he scored his very own seat on our final leg home. Such a big boy.
Play time!
Are we there yet?
After ten full days of roaming the west, arriving home at Colden's house never felt so good.

Daddy, can I say hi to that lady? Sure, bubs. Really?! Yay!
Hey lady! You look nice and soft.
Things are getting squirrley. There's no chance of staying in this seat for much longer...

Yellowstone & Grand Tetons: Day 2
Day 2 we entered the park through West Yellowstone. The photo documenting began almost immediately.
It's always nice to see a familiar face on vacation. Ralphie sure knows a fellow CU grad when he sees one.
First stop: Lower Geyser Basin. Picture taking accelerates. (Grammy and Colden dodge the lens while napping in the car)
My favorite nephew, finally posing for a shot. Plus he let me do his hair this morning. #winning
Nature's breakfast.
Poor kid left his sunglasses in the car..
Wait, Papa!
Love these two.
Old Faithful Lodge. Next time we're staying here, when we remember to book a year in advance.
Look who woke up!
Time to reserve our seats for the eruption. Old Faithful is nothing if not punctual. This picture does not do the crowd justice; nor does it show the crowd from where I'm standing. This is quite the attraction.
Waiting...
There she blows!
If this photo could talk, all you would hear is wailing. Someone's ready for lunch.
Out of the park we head as we make our way towards and through the Grand Tetons. Picture taking explodes. The next several photos are my absolute favorite of the trip. Trust me when I say it's much more breathtaking in person.
While mommy and daddy frolic outside...
Sweet Colden snoozes, inside.
More pictures ensue.
Within just a few hours our little bub is happily refreshed just in time for the scenery to change...
From this...
to this. Central Wyoming at its finest.
