pumpkin patchin'

What goes together better than fall, leaves, and pumpkins? Babies, leaves, and pumpkins. That's what. A few weekends ago we took Colden to his first pumpkin patch, loaded with what else, but babies, leaves, and pumpkins.

Since most of my childhood was spent overseas, the countries I lived in didn't celebrate holidays like Halloween, the tradition of pumpkin carving, or America's Thanksgiving. In fact, it was unlikely you could even find a pumpkin in Iceland or Japan, regardless of the fall harvest season. As such, I don't have too many memories pumpkin patchin' while growing up.

Given my lack of pumpkin picking tales, I vowed to my son that from his first fall season on, we would provide him with an aresenal of experiences to choose from.

Here's Colden's first pumpkin patchin' tale.

Enjoy.

The hunt begins...

And we're off to a great start. So many big ones to choose from.

Ohh come on, Dad! I think I see a good one.

Hmmm, I changed my mind. Let's take a little detour off by these tall scratchy things.

Not again. These two take WAY too many pictures. And they talk in silly voices to get me to look at the camera. Sheesh. What do they expect, a smile or somethin'?

Perhaps this snow cone will help us find the right one?

Oh wait. Cider and donuts. CIDER AND DONUTS. Yum!

All this pumpkin patchin' is sensory overload. I think I'll take a little snooze.

Ahh. That's better.

The view is spectacular from up here. I might have spotted the perfect one...

This way, Mommy!

Keep going...I'm scared to even look. Could we have found the one?

YES!

That's IT! And she's just my size.

What a great day at the 'ole patch. I just love pumpkins. I think I want to be one for Halloween!

love,
Colden

  1. Gah! I just about died reading this post in Colden's voice. Cutest post ever. And his little shoes are too cute! Colden will have to teach Baby K a thing or two about style :)
