matchy matchy

Matt is the proud owner of a super sweet electric blue Patagonia jacket. Not only is this jacket a perfect fit physically, but it suits his personality perfectly. He wears it nonstop, too. Naturally, I just had to get a matching one for Colden. Like father, like son, right? I ordered this surprise gift a few weeks before Christmas and stashed it away in my secret hiding place. Then the waiting game began.

You see, I'm notorious for spilling the beans. Surprises and patience just don't go together. It's really my utter lack of the latter that's to blame. When something good is about to happen, I want to tell everyone. Holidays and birthdays involve far too much fortitude and are therefore especially difficult. More times than not, I end up accidentally voluntarily telling Matt what I got him, or worse; I beg him to open his gift early before the anticipation gets the best of my shoddy willingness to wait.

This year's gift was far too good to spoil, though. I knew I had to endure. Thankfully, what little moxie I could muster really paid off. Matt was beyond surprised, and Colden absolutely loves his new matching jacket.

Ohh, but I think he loves his Daddy so much more.

To my complete surprise, Matt happened to purchase the same jacket as a Christmas gift for his Dad. I couldn't have planned this better myself, even if I tried. Three matching gifts is completely beyond my realm of possibility.

I promptly took a Patagonia family photo.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure they make Patagonia for mamas? There's always next year.

  1. Ok. LOVE that father and son are matching! The sweetest thing! And good for you for holding out - I can only imagine how excited you were for Matt to open. We gotta get you one, Tiff!
