ladies' night

All last week my old roommate Michelle was here visiting from Singapore. I can't tell you the number of stories the two of us share (some silly, some tame, but most are downright batty). As college roommates we studied abroad in London and traveled around Europe when we were just twenty one. Starting out as young working professionals in San Francisco, we found our way as twenty-somethings in the city by the bay. Now, ten years past our first meeting, we've found that little has changed- we're still the same silly girls we always were. Add in one darling husband and one sweet baby (both of which require daily watering), and I suppose a few things have changed.

With Colden under the supervision of Daddy day-care, Michelle, myself, and my sweet friend Juliet met up for a much needed ladies' night in the city. Sharing old stories, laughs, and lots of margaritas, the evening was going splendidly.

After dinner we sat chatting away, completely enthralled in conversation, and therefore unaware of all other restaurant activity. In the middle of yet another silly tale from our youth, I was approached by what I thought was a blonde waiter. He asked me what I wanted for dessert and left a folded piece of paper- which I assumed was a menu. It wasn't until he (and his friends) exited the restaurant that we realized he wasn't a waiter, and the piece of paper wasn't a menu- it was a pick up note! A fit of laughter instantly ensued. Did this mama on her first night out in ages seriously just get hit on?

The scene, and details inside, were ridiculously entertaining. My first thought was the priceless giggle Matt would get out of all of this- or perhaps he'd never let me go out on another ladies' night again.

Thank you mystery college boys. You made our night.

Mama's still got it.
