month-end catchup

When I worked in finance 'month-end' was always our busy time. Somehow I've carried this phrase, and the accompanying end-of-the-month stress with me into mommyhood. So much has happened in the past week or so that I'm not sure where to even begin. First thing's first, Colden's routine twelve month blood-work came back completely normal. That's right. Normal findings for thyroid, lead, celiac disease (we have none!), and not a single substance popped up on his food allergy panel. Not even dairy- which has been plaguing us for months. I'm astounded. So much so that I'm still waiting for the phone call where they say they mixed up our results with someone else. For now, we'll take it and praise the Lord.

On top of this small victory, Colden's hip x-ray (our son is destined to be a gymnast) came back totally normal. There's that word again. I'm amazed. Normal never looked so good on this kid.

Last week I also arranged for Colden's OT and Speech evaluations through the NY State Early Intervention Program. I may post a diatribe on this later- but let's just say Warrior Mommy is back. And we're ready to get crackin'. One year in I feel so much wiser and waaay more savvy in regards to how the whole system works. I finally feel somewhat in control. Plus, I'm in the process of assembling the best team of therapists to really help Colden; and that in it of itself feels really good.

Over the weekend we Matt 'gardened', while Colden invited his pals Evie and Jack over for a sensory play-date (yes, it's exactly what you think). With a 70 degree day on our hands, what better way to spend it than with three babies in a kiddie pool knee deep in graham cracker crumbs, marshmallows, and chocolate pudding? Something tells me Colden won't be making s'mores anytime soon. Pictures to come.

Yesterday we had Colden's twelve month ENT follow-up. Feeling anxious, our doctor informed us she was very impressed with his improvement in the last three months- ears, nose, and throat all look great. Reflux is under control. No tubes needed, and we're keeping his adenoids right where they belong. Small victory #76 for the month. Happy dance required. I'll be sure to keep the momentum going for his twelve month ophthalmologist follow-up later this week, and our next developmental appointment in Rochester next week. Who doesn't love a happy dance encore?

On top of all these victories, yesterday my sweet nephew turned TEN. My how time flies. Happy Birthday, Andrew! We all love you so much. Coincidentally, our dear friends Gen and Ben also welcomed their first born, Grey, into the world. We had the pleasure of meeting their little bundle this evening and all I can say is how lucky they are. Such a beautiful boy.

With the weather turning, we've been taking walks almost daily around the neighborhood  Here are a few quick pics from our evening happenings lately. Can you believe our sweet boy is ONE?

Can't wait to see Auntie Michelle tomorrow! Until then.
