Carolina

When Matt was invited to attend the US Open in Pinehurst, North Carolina, I jumped at the chance to tag along. One of my oldest and closest friends lives only about 45 minutes away, so I thought it was a perfect opportunity for Colden and I to spend a few days with Lindsey and her sweet daughter Cadence.

Despite a delay on the way down, Colden flew like a champ. Since turning two in April, this was the first time we actually had to purchase him a ticket. His seat went unused of course, as our cool breeze is the size of your average one-year-old and sat on our laps for both flights anyway. What a technicality. Alas, we try to play by the rules at 38,000 ft.

Catching up with Lindsey was like therapy. We've been friends since I moved to Colorado in the 8th grade. College roommates, and each other's maid of honor, we've been through a lot over the years. I really wish she lived closer!

Colden had a blast playing with Cady. He would follow her around and she willingly let him play with her hair. Mommy frequently slaps his hands down, so you have no idea how big this was. Friends for life.

A few days later Matt arrived in a rental car to whisk us to Myrtle Beach, SC for the rest of the weekend. Since I let Dada take the reins with planning this trip, he booked a resort based solely on the outdoor amenities: this place had a pirate ship water park. He was sold. Time to get our feet wet!

Colden really loved the toddler splash pool..

Ohh hey Dada.

There's our pirate ship!

So much splashing and sliding, it's time for a little breather. What a good Dada.

And perhaps a snack at the pool bar.

Post nap, and we're back at it with shades on.

This was Colden's preferred method of crawling on the hot, textured concrete. Little Mowgli.

Finally, Mama (and her bump) make it into a pic!

Ahhh, the lazy river is nice.

I daresay Colden really enjoyed this vacation!
